Boo!

Our Jedi and Dalmatian got to wear their costumes to school today.

Later that evening, we had our 6th annual Halloween celebration at Paula and Greg's house (wish you were here!!) The new addition: a Spooky Walk through a path in the yard for the little ones. Out of towners Janet and Mike Dorsey, and Dave Student got to join the festivities this year.

The moms got in the spirit.

Mullet Man, Cruella DeVille, Dalmatian and Ninja had a spooktacular time.

May everyone soundly sleep off the sugar buzz!

Gourd Art

First time in... well, I think this is the kids' first pumpkin carving experience. The first they can remember anyway. In south Florida, the usually roasty October temperatures turn a carved pumpkin into a sticky puddle faster than a ghost can say "boo!" But we are enjoying a nice cool down this year, so we made an afternoon of it.

Parent approved vegetable play that involves knives, slime and flame? Are you sure it isn't Christmas?? See you all after the Great Sugar Binge in a few days.

Little Farm Field Trip

Just a typical Fall day - 87 degrees with pumpkins roasting under the palm trees. Well, typical for south Florida anyway. I had the pleasure of joining Sidney's pre-K class this week for their farm field trip, on the mainland. Sharing these kinds of experiences with our kids is one of the highlights of my life. Sid is quite the animal lover, and she was smitten with her taste of farm life. She- and all her classmates - had a down-home, hands-on good time.

Pumpkin patch:

Petting a baby chick:

And a rooster:

We eat what for Thanksgiving??

First pony ride:

Milking a goat:

Checking out Otis the cow:

"Mom, if we just LIVED on a farm, then we'd never have to leave!"

A memorable day for the whole class. Now quick, into the air conditioned cars!
Happy Fall everyone!
