Seven!

Who knows what wonderful surprises will come in this, the 7th year of Benjamin.

Poppy and Ben enjoyed a smile or two before presents and cake. In looking at some old family photos, it seems that Ben bears a strong resemblance to his great-grandpa Sol, Greg's father.

But he's got his momma's determination and focus, when he finds something he's interested in.

Like this remote controlled monster truck:

He was focused and determined to plow it right over his sister.

Those qualities show up again, when constructing Legos, a favorite activity. Auntie Manders, who was here for a quick kamakazie visit, helped him through the rough spots.

In lieu of a formal party, Steve and I took him to his first pro basketball game. Aah, his inner Sports Guy has been released in its full glory. (For those of you who know Steve, its serious business!)

100-level seats. Not too shabby! Ben was attentive and cheering all the way to the nail-biter ending: The Heat outscored the Magic by ONE POINT in the last 20 seconds! Even I, the non-sporty member of the family, was on the edge of my seat. I thought the drama would undo our little guy! But he just ate it all up.

Chocolate on chocolate. Happy birthday, Ben!

A big THANKS to all of you who helped make his day extra special. It means a lot. We love you!
